is diabetes a possibility?

Over the last few weeks, I have felt myself being a little thirstier than usual, but im not drinking like a fish or anything. also, once or twice a day, i feel like one of my feet have pins and needles and feel a little cold. I am 15, 5’10" and 155 so i am not fat or anything. my family has no history of diabetes, but i dont eat very well, hardly any fruits and vegetables and i drink a lot of soda. Can someone describe their onset of diabetes ie how thirsty they were and how often or if at all their feet fell asleep? thanks.

With teens, the symptoms are way more dramatic than being thirsty. There’s a lot of nausea and vomiting and a general feeling of illness and severe lethargy. The fact that you are a little thirstier than usual isn’t alarming.

Renal Disease Stage III – what vegetables and fruits to avoid?

My Dad has multiple health problems including diabetes, but was recently diagnosed with Renal Disease Stage III. He’s already been doing much of what they list at the site below (lost more than 50 pounds) and is trying to increase his exercise. I make a lot of his food, especially premade meals for him to pop out of the freezer into the microwave such as homemade burritos. The link indicates that he may have to avoid fruits and vegetables high in phosphorus or potassium. Which ones are these besides bananas (which he rarely eats anyway)?

This test is the easiest but has approximately 10% of the accuracy of a laboratory test.

FAST PLASMA GLUCOSE TEST:- You cannot eat for 8 hours before this test. Before you arrive you will have blood drawn and tested. Once tested your blood reading should not be above 126 mg/dl. Otherwise, you could be diabetic and will need to confirm through either a Glucose Tolerance Test or Glycosylated Haemoglobin Test.

If you are diagnosed with diabetes as a result of the tests do not be alarmed. The majority of diabetes cases can be managed by improving your diet and using natural remedies. Even if you feel completely normal you should still get yourself tested by a professional doctor. It’s the only way to identify the problem and if neccessary start taking preventatory measures.
