We’re in trouble. BIG trouble.

Our food is killing us! Heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes… these are our biggest death-dealers! Why? Just think of our staples: Burgers, fries, pizza, chips, hot dogs, candy, soda, coffee, desserts, energy drinks, beer… Do we REALLY need to ask why?

So what do we do about it? How realistic is it to expect a massive dietary shift? We’re literally addicted to junk!

The answer is supplementation.

Multivitamin nutrition is powerful, focused nutrition. With our food becoming more and more chemical-laden and nutritionally devoid, supplementation is becoming increasingly necessary! Taking a healthy, all-natural multivitamin supplement is by far the best way to give your body the much needed nutrition its been cheated out of via industrialization and poor dietary choices.

A good whole-food multivitamin supplement will combat the chemicals we ingest on a daily basis. They will neutralize acidity in the bloodstream. They will support our immune systems. They’ll give us a fighting chance. And who knows? They may even give us some welcome energy and mood boosts!

In the quest for optimal nutrition, supplementation simply cannot be overlooked. Any good multivitamin supplement will contain the following:

Whole-food Vitamins

Chelated Minerals

Probiotics

Phytonutrients

Amino Acids

Antioxidants

The difference between a whole-food multivitamin and one of a synthetic nature is vast. Your typical, over-the-counter drugstore multivitamins are made in a lab. They’re basically comprised of crushed up rocks and are unrecognized by your body. In fact, your body doesn’t welcome them at all, hence the “vitamin burps” and “fluorescent pee” many of us experience after taking this type of supplement.

If a synthetic multivitamin doesn’t tear up your sensitive capillaries, blood cells, and tissues (crushed up rock… hello!), it will typically just end up as expensive urine!

Natural, whole-food vitamins are easily recognized, assimilated, and used (what a concept) by your nutritionally starved body, and I tell ya, the benefits are immediate! Bright eyes, clear skin, supreme energy, amazing mental clarity, and an overall sense of happiness and well-being result from you taking the time to FEED yourself. Multivitamin nutrition is the answer!

When shopping for a healthy, whole-food multivitamin supplement, DRIVE PAST THE DRUGSTORE! They don’t have what you want, I promise you. Your local health food store is a much better option. Look for a multi that meets all the criteria listed above.

I also recommend that while you’re at the health food store, you pick up a canister of a super greens powder. You simply mix it with water and drink. It will alkalize your blood, cleanse your body, give you an extra energy boost, and take your supplementation to the next level.

Feel free to CLICK HERE if you’d like to check out my personal favorite supplement. I take it every day. It’s a little miracle worker. I love it!

A great green drink resource is Green Drinks Galore. It’s got a plethora of fantastic powders, information, videos, and delicious recipes to make your supplementation an absolute pleasure!

I wish you the best of health and happiness! Thank you for reading.

One of the fastest growing trends in dieting is the so-called Mediterranean diet. This formula for healthier nutrition has been said to have amazing benefits, including cancer prevention and diabetes control. If you’re interested in learning more about this diet plan, you’ll find useful information below.

What is Mediterranean Diet?

If you want to follow the Mediterranean diet plan for nutrition, you’ll need to change a few of your eating habits. For example, you’ll probably need to consume larger quantities of fruits and vegetables, as well as fish. At the same time, you’ll need to lower down your consumption of red meat and get additional protein from small portions of nuts. Drinking red wine and adding more healthy oils, such as canola and olive oils, to your diet are also important.

Benefits of the Diet

According to the Mayo Clinic, a study released in 2007 found that people who followed the diet outlined above had much lower risks of cancer and heart disease than did people who followed a more Western diet. Additionally, the University of Maryland Medical Center reports that choosing to follow this lifestyle change has a number of powerful benefits for people with diabetes, especially because it is lower in sugar and carbohydrates which can cause spikes in blood sugar levels.

Reasons to Switch

If don’t want to go through the stress and negative effects of cancer treatment in your lifetime, changing to eat more of these Mediterranean foods could be a smart idea. After all, many of the known cancer causes do relate to improper nutrition. Plus, if you want to have a healthy immune system to fight back against abnormal cells you’ll need adequate nutrition that you won’t find in your average fast food meal. Most of the foods included, such as the heart healthy oils, will do double or triple duty protecting you from chronic disease.

Health nutrition from food you eat and drink is your health and strength. What you eat is part of what you are and what you will become. What you choose for a meal has an impact on our body either positively or negatively. The quality of food you take affects the length and quality of your life. Many life threatening diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancers, are often, at least in part, linked to poor nutrition. Much of these diseases could be prevented with sufficient health nutrition intake.

We are often told that we must eat a balanced diet to obtain health nutrition for our wellbeing. However, what is a balanced diet? How do you know you are achieving the correct balance? Many of us do not eat enough healthy carbohydrates. Many of us are unaware of a diet which is very low in fat can cause as much harm to our body as a high-fat diet. Many of us do not know that we eat more protein than we really need, and that too much can be bad for us. Many of us fall short on the daily requirement of vitamins and minerals that our body need.

A perfect diet should contain all needed health nutrition such as carbohydrates, fat, protein, vitamins, minerals, fibre, in the right quantities. The WHO suggests at least fifty per cent of calories in our diet should come from complex carbohydrates, no more than thirty five per cent comes from fat and up to fifteen per cent comes from protein. The allowance for alcohol consumption is no more than five per cent.

To get fifty per cent or so of carbohydrates you need to ensure that at every meal you have a good portion of starchy carbohydrates food such as rice, pasta, potatoes, or bread. At most meals, you need good portion of vegetables and/or fruits. You should also include small portion of low- or moderate-fat protein such as fish, poultry, pulses and lean meat in our diets. High-fat protein such cheese, dairy product and fatty meats should be eaten less frequently and in even smaller portions. As all fat is a calorie-dense food, ideally you should include only small quantities of oil such as olive or corn oil in your meals. The majority part of your daily calorie needs have been taken up. There is only little room for alcohol and for the sugars. So, add these to your diet in moderation, if at all.

A variety and a balance intake of health nutrition is the most important element of a healthy diet for life. To ensure adequate amounts of all necessary vitamins, minerals, fat, protein, carbohydrates and fibre, eat as wide a variety of foods as you can. You should eat different sources of carbohydrates, varying types of protein, lots of different vegetables, salads and fruits.

There is no need to worry too much about the exact nutritional content of every morsel of food you eat. The fact is that almost any kind of meal can be adapted to form part of a healthy diet if you follow the abovementioned guidelines.

Nutrition in schools reached an all time low in the 1990′s in America. School administrators and government officials were asleep at the wheel. Well, hopefully they were asleep at the wheel. Because the only other possibility is that they were so greedy for the corporate fast food and junk food dollars pouring into their institutions to care about the damage being done to the Nation’s students in the form of obesity, type 2 diabetes and students being overweight. In any case, money was flowing in, obesity was outof control and no healthy fundraising solutions were being sought.

In the 1990′s and early in the 21st century, it was an absolutely insane situation in America’s schools. Corporate fast food and candy giants would sign lucrative contracts with school districts, wherein they would not only market their unhealthy food to students, but limit competition and eliminate direct competition, in the process. This was a unique and sad period in American education. Anyone who went to school in this country in the 1970′s and early 1980′s knows this wasn’t the case then. It was impossible to get candy or other fast food on campus. You would either eat in the cafeteria or bring your lunch. There were no candy filled vending machines. As far as cafeteria meals, they were prepared according to USDA guidelines. All of that changed in the 1990′s.

Surely this situation played a part in the soaring, out of control obesity rates in this country. Concurrently in the 1990′s, U.S. Adults began consuming fast food and candy on a daily basis, rather than the occasional treat it had traditionally been. This has had a terrible effect on the health of this country. Because of bad nutrition habits, obesity, overweight and type 2 diabetes rates have never been higher. Profits soared while thoughts of nutrition and healthy fundraising solutions plummeted.

Thankfully in the 21st century, some of this has begun to change. The USDA has issued the “HealthierUS School Challenge.” This is a program wherein schools agree to comply with basic nutrition regulations and are certified as “Team Nutrition” Schools. Once certified, they receiving funding and periodic reviews to check for compliance. The re-certification is contingent on maintaining a fast food free campus and searching for healthy fundraising solutions. Additionally, schools that sign on to programs like these gain respect and stature in the educational community as pioneers in promoting better health and nutrition in America.

Obviously this alone will not solve the problem. There is no stronger force in advertising than the fast food, candy and soda industry. But with educators and the USDA getting involved, a difference is being made. You can do your part by speaking up for nutrition, education and healthy fundraising solutions.

There are actually a few diseases where diet can cure, most of those deal with either impairments to metabolic pathways

Gluten free diets can cure celiac disease, and may have beneficial effects on autistic patients, for example

In healthy individuals, the body produces a hormone named insulin. This hormone enables the body to process starchy foods and sugars into the energy the body requires for its normal functioning. In people who suffer from diabetes this hormone is not or in insufficient quantities produced. Therefore Mother Nature must get a helping hand.

Two Types of Diabetes

As stated before the body needs insulin to process certain food substances. There are two possibilities: either the system does not produce enough insulin for the body to use, this is a Type 1 diabetes. Or the system does produce insulin alright but for some reasons the body is unable to use it, this is diabetes type 2.

It is however perfectly possible to live a normal life with both kinds of diabetes. The sort of nutrition a diabetes patient uses is extremely important, since diabetes is a serious condition, which should not be taken lightly. Below you will find some hints about nutrition and lifestyle for diabetes patients.

The Right Food and the Right Exercise

The main purpose in diabetes nutrition is to stay away as much as possible from starchy foods and focus on vegetables and fruits. High fiber content is equally important so better go for the whole grains and brown rice or pasta instead of the white varieties. Fish and lean meats pose the least problems.

Of course as with any medical situation, don’t start a diabetes nutrition on your own but first consult with your physician. One person reacts totally different to certain food items than another and your doctor can help you in making the right choices.

Mens sana in corpore sano: the Romans hit it right on the spot with this one as well: a healthy mind in a healthy body. Supplement your healthy diabetes nutrition with some exercises: make it a daily routine if you can. Walking is a great way to stay in shape and does not require a lot of effort. Half an hour a day will do wonders for you. If nothing else it will help in keeping your weight under control: important for a healthy individual but certainly for some one suffering from diabetes.

Some tips:

- Regularly check your blood sugar, that way you can closely monitor your sugar levels and control your diabetes nutrition. If your levels are not regular you know there is something wrong with the way you eat.

- Regular check-ups with the doctor, he or she will check to see if you have the diabetes well under control and if necessary put you on a different type of diabetes nutrition.
