I live in Miami. Not a good question to ask right now. What is the life expectancy of that same farm worker if they stay in their own country?

Another point to consider is that the use of pesticides on fruits and vegetables may actually DECREASE cancer.

One of the leading sources of cancer-preventing antioxidants is fruits and vegetables. If pesticides were not used, many of these same foods could become prohibitively expensive to may shoppers, thus reducing their ingestion of much needed antioxidants.

By reducing the cost of producing fruits and vegetables, pesticides actually SAVE lives, on the margin.

Edit: In addition, WE don’t control the wages of vegetable pickers. The market does.

So let me get this straight: you are comparing uneducated people that are born, raised, and live in a 2nd world country, to educated people that are born, raised, and live in the wealthiest, most advanced nation in the world? Next time try comparing apples to apples.

Picking fruits and vegetables is more dangerous. It is like comparing automobile accident to aircraft crashes. Aircraft crashes get the headlines and automobiles accidents do not. Policemen getting killed will get National News coverage while working in a field picking vegetables will barely make the back page. Go Figure.
