Quick question about diabetes diet?

I have pre-exsisting diabetes and I have to do the whole finger stick 5 times a day to make sure my blood sugar level doesn’t exceed 140. I’ve been doing pretty good with eating plenty of fruits and vegetable. My question is if I eat rice and pasta (which I’m not supposed to eat because it supposedly raises my blood sugar level) and my BSL doesn’t exceed 140 will it still affect my unborn child? Will it hurt me even if I’m not exceeding the 140 mark. When I eat them my BSL is mostly around 128 or so.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like your A1c should be great. Keep your bg under 140 through out your entire pregnancy, make sure you are seeing your endo (If you don’t have one now would be a good time to get one) and have a happy healthy pregnancy. It sounds like you already have great control. Congrats on that. I know how hard it is. Feel free to stop by:

eat what you want as long as your sugar doesnt go too high. eating these things in small amounts is ok.

I am a juvenile Diabetec Type one, have had it since I was 11 and am 23 now. Also I am 29 weeks pregnant. If you are keeping your blood sugars under control than eat what you want. The problem with those foods is that they rais your bsl alot and fast but if you control it well with insulin injections or whatever method you use then dont worry about it. Also keep an eye out for your A1C. My last one was 6.1 which is very good considering. Good luck with the pregnancy and congrats on taking good care of your blood sugar. Your baby will be very grateful!
