Yes it seems like the steroids caused the problems with the high sugar levels. I have not heard of a reading over 1,200, you must be trying to set a record! Chances are that the steroids have prevented the insulin from working effectively, or else caused problems with the pancreas not realizing the sugar levels where elevated, or perhaps slowed the response of the pancreas.
