Hi,

I can only wonder why it was so important to have you on steroids for all those years.

Yes it seems like the steroids caused the problems with the high sugar levels. I have not heard of a reading over 1,200, you must be trying to set a record!

Chances are that the steroids have prevented the insulin from working effectively, or else caused problems with the pancreas not realizing the sugar levels where elevated, or perhaps slowed the response of the pancreas.

I hope that you are OK without the steroids. I am glad to hear that you don't need them anymore.

It might be that you where to acidic while taking the steroids too. This can cause many problems, including weight gain, as the body tries to store excess acids it can not dispose of in other ways.

Dr. Young writes in his book that being to acidic can make his patients insulin work less effectively. The PH Miracle for Diabetes.

Another book suggests many causes for diabetes, including not eating a traditional diet. Dr. Barnard's Program for Reversing Diabetes.

I suggest that you continue to test your blood sugar levels if you change your lifestyle, for instance become pregnant or start to take a medication that includes steroids again.

Good Luck!
References :
It surely seems to me that the steroids must have been the problem. though you defiantly had diabetes when diagnosed. I have known of all signs of type 2 diabetes going away with wt loss also.
References :
R.N.
