My grandfather had diabetes, is there a possibility i could get diabetes too ?

I do not exercise, i only run with my friends but that’s like 1 hour for the whole week and winter is coming so i’m not gonna be doing anything like that.
However my grandfather died from diabetes, is there a possibility i get diabetes too ?. I’m not fat but i’m not exactly skinny

Your risk factor would be higher if one of your parents had diabetes..but it is in your family. You can’t prevent diabetes from developing…you may delay the development a little, but you can stop it from happening. Just get some daily exercise like walking and eat a sensible diet..Unfortunately, only time will tell. Being big, (overweight) does not mean a person is going to have diabetes. Most type 2 diabetics are not, or ever have been overweight. People get facts confused. And you do not get it from old age. Both types of diabetes are caused when the pancreas is not functioning the way it should. I would not let the fear of developing diabetes stop you from living a fun filled life.

Diabetes can be heriditary, but most people can prevent it by diet and exercise. Usually big people over 50 are diabetic.

Diabetes is a condition that can be hereditarily, excise is very important for your health in general and for diabetes I n particular. I would go to the doctor and ask him some information about diabetes. You could also look online for the answers and how to minimize the risk

I hate to burst your bubble, but my grandfather has diabetes and now i do too. If you are overweight you do have a chance of getting type 2 diabetes. but yes you can get diabetes.

Diabetes is hereditary, but it depends on if your grandfather was born with it or developed it do to old age. My grandmother has it too, but I’m not worried. Just eat healthy foods. No junk food, fast food, soda or excessive sweets. You don’t have to become a marathon runner, but doing simple cardio exercises (i.e. taking the stair instead of the elevator, walking around the block every other day) should build up the heart muscle and lessen your chances of getting diabetes. But you should always talk to your personal physician if you have any true concerns that you’re worried about.
