How much is the blood sugar 45 minutes after eating a banana for people without diabetes?
Last night, before eating, my blood sugar was normal. Then i ate 2 slices of wheat bread, 1 1/2 cups of fat free milk, 1/2 banana. Checked sugar after 45 minutes, it was 192. then, went back to normal when checked again after 1 hr and 15 mins. in short, it went back to normal aftr 2 hours. Today, my sugar was normal. ate 1/2 banana, checked after 45 mins, it was 114. For a normal person, how much is the blood sugar 45 mins. and 2 hours after eating all these stuff. I am still probably in denial of my diabetes. I am thinking I’m borderline and can turn back the clock by doing exercises. I am anemic too.
For my first lab test, my fasting was 121. (did not do glucose test.
For my second lab test, fasting was 138 (I took antibiotic for acute bronchitis night before) and was really not feeling well. Then, glucose test of 164.
What do you think?
I just want to compare blood sugar levels of a normal person and a diabetic after eating all these stuff.
i’m sorry. i think i have done my own testings wrong. i did not adjust my monitor to the right code. strips were code 16 and monitor was code 18. with this case, how innaccurate will the monitor be? after adjusting the code, i was 106 2 hours after eating 1 cup of brown rice and chicken. this morning, it was 85 (fasting). 2 hrs after eating 1 slice bread and a cup of milk, it was 85. i went to my dr. this AM she said i am doing fine. thank you all!
Everyone is different. My son has type 1, I don’t have diabetes. In my case, it would be the same as before I ate.

well i dont know how high a normal person bs would be after eating exactly that, but 192 is too high for it to be normal i would call your doctors office and ask to speak to the nurse and she can tell you for free, atleast mine do

I think you are fine at this moment. Infection can cause a rise in blood glucose levels. If you want to know how well your body is doing as far as being able to digest sugars, get a glucose tolerance test.

In a non diabetic the pancreas will maintain a blood sugar from 80-120. Regardless of what they eat. Even after fasting for several hours the body will convert glycogen in the liver to glucose and keep it under 80 and will store extra sugar after over indulging and keep it below 120. A blood sugar of 192 after a rather small meal such as that is probally a problem

Normal (ie, non-diabetics) have a rather effective control mechanism. Insulin release is triggered by blood glucose level rises, and, in non-diabetics, those levels ordinarily go up only after eating.
Usually, it takes an hour or two for the glucose content of a meal to make it into the blood. Though this depends in part on what you ate; straight potato is absorbed much more rapidly than a potato eaten with sour cream and butter. Fats and proteins slow down absorbtion a good bit. The rise in blood glucose during this time, in non-diabetics, is limited. Typically, it never goes higer than perhaps 140 mg/dl and that only briefly.
Anyone whose glucose goes as high as 192 mg/dl within an hour after a meal clearly has a poorly functioning glucose control system. And that’s what diabetes (especially Type 2) is. Your fasting levels are ambiguous as 121 is merely a bit high, while 138 is diagnostic of diabetes, except that you report being ill at the time of the test. Illness often raises glucose levels in non-diabetics as well, so this reading should probably be taken with some care.
Nevertheless, I’d say the time for denial is gone. You are at least moderately glucose intoleratn (or insulin resistant, your choice) and you are embarking on an uncomfortable journey.
