As we all know, Diabetes is one of the most common disease prevalent over the world these days. The condition in which the body accumulates excess of sugar is termed as diabetes.

There can be two reasons for this, either a problem with secretion and functioning of the Anti Diuretic hormone or the problem with secretion of insulin. The former is called, Diabetes insepidus, Diabetes Mellitus being the latter one. The latter is rather more prevalent and is the matter of concern for almost every second house in the society these days.

There is no miracle drug to totally cure diabetes at once, but what we can do is just keep it under control by imposing a regular check on it by using medicines etc. For this we need monitoring the progress of the disease from time to time. In the busy schedule of the 21st century it is virtually impossible to go to the doctor every time there is a need for testing the blood sugar level. The solutions to these are Glucose monitoring kits.

However, while using these Diabetes testing kits, you must keep in mind certain simple things:

* Each strip should be used only once and after that it should be discarded at a safe place.

* When abnormally low or high results come, then you must repeat the test to confirm.

What are some yummy healthy low cal foods i can eat?

I’m a female. 21 years old. My height is 5′6.5" and I weight 158 lbs.

I want to lose some weight. At least 10-20 lbs. I think 130-140 is a descent weight for my height. At least average. Correct me if I’m wrong.

I don’t know how to do it in a healthy way. My parents and entire family are obese. They have heart problems and diabetes. I was raised on hamburgers and fast foods and nasty greasy stuff. When I was little I remember being allowed to eat chips and cheese dip for breakfast and ice cream for dinner plus whatever else I wanted to eat after not being filled up by that junk.

I don’t want to be like my family. I’m surprised I’m not bigger than I am.

Know I’m not totally dense. Vegetables, fruit…I know thopse are healthy…But I don’t that would make a very good meal and fill me up and everything you know?

Are there any recipes?

Also, please don’t reccomend straving myself or throwing up. I did that stuff in the past and it isn’t a road I want to go down again

There are some recipes here for healthily getting fit: http://www.beauty-tricks.com/beautyforum/viewtopic.php?t=12

Change in vaginal odor: food cause or other problem?

I’m transitioning to a mostly raw, mostly vegan diet. I’ve been eating a lot more fruits and vegetables lately. I’ve always had about 10 or so total servings of these daily, but now I’m having more.

My vaginal odor has an odd fruity, almost pungent smell to it. I’ve also been urinating frequently. I’m healthy, active and young. I did some research and the two together came up with type I diabetes. I think I’m a little old for this diagnoses, especially considering the absurd amounts of sugary, processed food that I ate in my teens.

Is this anything to worry about? Is it because of the change in diet?
Also, I have been having some lower abdominal cramping and gas. I don’t think it’s due to the diet because I ate lots of fruit before hand. I have large, loose (but not watery) stools now as with before, but I had diarrhea last night including some fecal matter and a gel like material that came out after I had passed gas.
It is not an STI as I choose to abstain from sex.

Food changes often are reflected in body odors. You might want to check it out with your doctor as your dietary extreme may be leading to other problems.

Obesity and Diabetes: Obesity Hampers the Treatment of Obesity!

People do not realize that obesity is becoming major reason behind many fatal diseases. Diabetes is one of these diseases. Obesity and diabetes both are common problems in youth as well as in old age. People are eating more and eating unhealthy and it is leading us to diabetes.

Research has shown that obesity and diabetes are inter-related. Lifestyle is a major contributing risk factor for both these conditions. Sedentary lifestyles, high fat diet, in addition to age, race family history are risk factors for both diabetes and obesity.

Diabetes is a condition which affects the cells ability to take glucose from the blood. Glucose starvation in the tissues leads them to use their own protein. Diabetes in turn leads complications like kidney failure and blindness. Studies have shown that close to 80% of people with type 2 diabetes are obese.

Being obese or overweight puts your body under a lot of stress. One of them is the body’s ability to use glucose. Being obese can also cause your body to be insulin resistant. Which means over a period of time this insulin resistance can lead to diabetes. This also implies that if you already are diabetic then your body will need more insulin.

Insulin helps in maintaining blood glucose level. The more insulin is used, the more glucose is absorbed in the blood. Extra glucose is stored in the body as fast, so you tend to put on weight when you start using insulin for diabetes. Diabetics need to modify their diet when they are on insulin.

Proper nutrition and exercise assist people suffering from obesity and diabetes in living better as well as longer. Obese can prevent developing diabetes by making healthier food choices. Avoid snacking, ice cream and candy instead of eating all this you should try to include more and more quantity of foods and vegetables. Apart from this regular exercise is also very effective in preventing obesity and diabetes. Make habit of walking and doing work out if you want to prevent diabetes or manage it. Also regular exercise is like a boon in fighting against obesity and diabetes.
